Who will you actually talk to?
Good question. You will talk to an independent tree provider in the network. These are local businesses, not employees of Bookrate Tree Service. The provider you reach is the one who looks at your tree, gives you a quote, and does the work.
What happens on the first conversation?
It is usually simple. The provider asks a few questions and listens.
- Where is the tree on your property?
- How big is it, roughly?
- Is it leaning, cracked, or already down?
- Is it touching a house, fence, car, or power line?
- Can someone safely take photos?
If the tree is near a power line, stay far away and tell the provider right away. Utility lines are not a do-it-yourself problem.

What should you ask a provider?
A few questions can save you a lot of worry. Keep this list handy:
- Are you insured, and can you show proof?
- Is the quote in writing, and what does it include?
- Does the price cover cleanup and hauling?
- Will you grind the stump, or is that a separate line?
- How will you protect my roof, lawn, and fence?
- What is your timeline, and what could change it?
Typical U.S. tree jobs vary widely based on size, access, and risk. A written quote is the only way to know your real number.
Are you in control?
Yes, always. You decide whether to accept a quote. You can ask for a second opinion. You can say no. There is no obligation to hire any provider who contacts you.
If something feels rushed, slow down. A fair provider will explain the job and let you think.
Why share photos first?
Photos help a provider judge the job before arriving. Take a few from a safe distance. Show the whole tree, the base, and any damage. This often leads to a clearer quote.
